While not as many people suffer from nocturnal panic attacks as those that occur at other times, it is still a big issue in our society. They are definitely just as scary for those involved with them. These are types of panic attacks that take place at night and wake a person up from their sleep. As a result they aren't getting the quality of rest that they really need to function. The body normally suffers both physically and mentally when it is deprived of sleep on a regular basis. It can be quite difficult to concentrate on daily tasks and it can increase irritability.
There are some symptoms that a person may experience due to nocturnal panic attacks. Disorientation is common due to not being sure what is taking place within their body. Others including a rapid heartbeat, crying, sweating, shaking, and breathing rapidly. It can take several minutes after waking up before a person is able to get these symptoms under control.
It is important to understand that children of all ages are also affected by nocturnal panic attacks. Parents need to do all they can to help their children feel safe and to be able to go back to sleep. It can be very difficult for them to do so though so be prepared for that. Too many parents assume it is just a bad dream but if the episodes continue it is important to know more on overcoming panic attack.
